Meet the Creative Team Behind the Books

Written Word Publications brings together the insight of author and educator Marlene Resnick Simons and the artistry of award-winning illustrator Constance Christensen. Together, their work creates colorful, engaging children’s books designed to teach important lessons in health, safety, and literacy while inspiring young readers.

Meet Marlene Resnick Simons, Author, Educator, and Advocate for Children’s Learning

Author Marlene Resnick Simons was clear that she was a writer at age 14. She holds a master’s degree from Goddard College in Family Studies. She had the opportunity to work with Lawrence Kohlberg at Harvard Graduate School of Education, focused on the issue of moral development and was trained at The Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School, in mediation, negotiation and facilitation. She used her knowledge and skills in facilitation as a consultant with Families First of Boston, as well as Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, before moving to Florida.

She has more than 25 years of experience as an educator of more than 3,000 parents and teachers. She taught in the College of Education at the University of South Florida for eight years and is the author of If Only They Came with Instructions, which was promoted by Healthy Families America. More recently she wrote and published Nobody’s Perfect, Parenting in a World of Change (available on Amazon).

Meet Constance Christensen, Award-Winning Illustrator and Visual Storyteller

Illustrator Constance Christensen is an award-winning artist who strives to express the wonder and beauty of life in her illustrations, paintings and portraits. Raised in the Midwest, her Danish grandfather was a professional artist who encouraged her, at an early age, to develop her talent.

After graduating with honors from Ringling College of Art and Design, she was awarded a scholarship to further her studies at the South Florida Art Institute.

In addition to exhibiting in galleries, her illustrations have been published both nationally and internationally.
